Hey guys! This week I will be reviewing Elenor and Park by Rainbow Rowell!
Hardcover edition length: 336
My Rating: 5/5
One extraordinary love.
Eleanor... Red hair, wrong clothes. Standing behind him until he turns his head. Lying beside him until he wakes up. Making everyone else seem drabber and flatter and never good enough...Eleanor.
Park... He knows she'll love a song before he plays it for her. He laughs at her jokes before she ever gets to the punch line. There's a place on his chest, just below his throat, that makes her want to keep promises...Park.
Set over the course of one school year, this is the story of two star-crossed sixteen-year-olds—smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try.
This book was SO GOOD. This was a story that really made you feel like you were in it. I fell in love with these characters within the first few pages because of how loveable they are. Eleanor has has had a pretty hard life and Park is just adorable and asdfghjk! I love these characters so much! You really form a bond with them as if they are your own little children.
I read this book quickly because it really sucks you in. Rainbow Rowell really makes you NEED to read more with the ending of every chapter.
This week I will be reviewing my ARC of The Crowns Game by Evelyn Skye!
Hardcover edition length: 416 pages
My review: 4.5/5
Online description: Vika Andreyeva can summon the snow and turn ash into gold. Nikolai Karimov can see through walls and conjure bridges out of thin air. They are enchanters—the only two in Russia—and with the Ottoman Empire and the Kazakhs threatening, the tsar needs a powerful enchanter by his side.
And so he initiates the Crown’s Game, an ancient duel of magical skill—the greatest test an enchanter will ever know. The victor becomes the Imperial Enchanter and the tsar’s most respected adviser. The defeated is sentenced to death.
Raised on tiny Ovchinin Island her whole life, Vika is eager for the chance to show off her talent in the grand capital of Saint Petersburg. But can she kill another enchanter—even when his magic calls to her like nothing else ever has?
For Nikolai, an orphan, the Crown’s Game is the chance of a lifetime. But his deadly opponent is a force to be reckoned with—beautiful, whip smart, imaginative—and he can’t stop thinking about her.
And when Pasha, Nikolai’s best friend and heir to the throne, also starts to fall for the mysterious enchantress, Nikolai must defeat the girl they both love . . . or be killed himself.
As long-buried secrets emerge, threatening the future of the empire, it becomes dangerously clear . . . the Crown’s Game is not one to lose.
My review: This book was amazing. I loved how she set up the rules for the Game because the way that she set it up allowed for the back and forth game style. Like, one of them gets a turn then the next, which allowed for a POV change. Each of the characters gets a total of 5 turns so there is that constant Pov change. And not each chapter is a new turn so it allows for more plot progression from other characters too!I also loved how she didn't just keep the POV changes to the main characters, but she also included many of the other characters POV's as well!
I really enjoyed the love triangle in this book because it gets really intense because all the characters all deserve love but you have no idea who to root for and you end up getting confused with ALL THE FEELS!
I really enjoyed the setting two! It is set in 18th century Russia and I find that very cool! Evelyn Skye describes it very well and it makes you feel as if you are there with the characters!
One of my favorite parts about this book was the characters themselves. They were very planned out and I really enjoyed their various personalities. One of my favorite characters was Nikolai because he was very smart with what he was doing, and I don't know. There's just something about him that really makes you like him! You'll see once the book comes out. YOULL ALL SEE ;).
The cliffhanger at the end of the book is SO good and I am excited to see what is next in this series(or is it a trilogy?)!
So that is it for this review! I absolutely think that you guys should read this book once it comes out on May 17th! If there are any books that you guys would like me to review next please comment below!
Have a great week!
