Hey guys! Sorry I haven't really updated in awhile! Ill try to be better! This week I will be reviewing This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab!
Hardcover edition length: 464 pages
My rating: 5/5 stars
There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from acclaimed author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake.
Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.
This book was absolutely fantastic!
The setting of this book is a little weird at first but you get used to it. It's a dystopian book but you don't really get that until a little further in the book. The setting is overall very interesting and i hope to learn more in the next book!
The plot was very interesting. I don't know exactly what to write about this without giving anything away but, this is one of those plots that without good characters, it really doesn't work out.
The characters were very well developed in this book. You really connect with them and understand how they feel about different situations.
I really loved how this book talked about different goods and evils and how it's not always as simple of oh yeah he's bad because he's a monster; and that it's much more than that.
This book was just so amazing and I'm sorry that this review isn't the best, because I'm just so flabbergasted with how this book it. I 100% recommend this book for anyone who likes monster books and books that really discuss good/evil. Thats one of my favorite types of books so if you have any recommendations please let me know!
