Hey guys! Today I will be reviewing Follow Me Back by A.V Geiger. This book was originally published in bits on Wattpad but because of its huge following and popularity, it has been turned into an actual print book! Congratulations to the author for that!
Paperback page count: 358
My rating: 4/5
Follow Me Back by A.V Geiger follows the story of two people: Eric Thorn a highly lusted for celebrity musican, and Tessa Hart, a girl who suffers with agoraphobia who happens to own a super popular Eric Thorn fan account. These two seemed like they would never meet, until Eric finally gets tired (and afraid) of his obssesive fans and decides to make a hate account to troll fan's account's, starting with Tessa's. But, after things end up not going as planned, they form an unexpected friendship. But, when there is people as famous as Eric Thorn involved, something always ends up going wrong.
There was two main things that I really enjoyed about this book. The first is that the story itself was super interesting. Several books like these are coming out recently with one perepective as a fan and another perspective the person that is obsessed over (ex. Geekerella) but this book conveyed it in a different way. The whole book had an undertone of metal health issues. From the super crazy obsessed fans to Eric Thorn being completly petrified and nervous for his safety, this book took a slightly different turn to the trope. This made the book alot more enjoyable and very interessting to read. And, combined with the bits of police reports taken from what happens at the end of the book, it really adds an eerie feel to the book.
And the second thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the mystery of it all. From the description, most people would just assume that this is some typlical romance story. But in reality, it is full of twists at every turn and darker intentions underlining the entire book.
The reason that I am giving this book a four out five is because while I really enjoyed some of the aspects of this book, there were some parts that seemed a bit lacking. Not the whole book of course, because it was still seemed pretty good, but while reading the book I couldn't help but feel like something was missing.
I recommed this book for people looking for a mystery with a bit of phycological undertones. This book is also really good for people loooking to read more books that have a fandom inside of them, much like my last review of Eliza and her Monsters. This book is super interessting and I can't wait to find out the ending in the sequal that is coming out sometime in 2018.
I hope that you guys enjoyed this review! If there are any books that you would like me to review, please let me know in the comments!
