So today I would like to review the first book in my, by far, favorite trilogy ever. This book is Half Bad by Sally Green. This book is about a world where there are witches. But they are not regular types of witches. There are the black witches and the white witches(skin color does not determine this). These witches don't really have any power until their "giving ceremony" at the age of seventeen. They live undetected to society but still function as normally and even have their own council building. This world is also set in modern day England.
This book tells the story of a boy whose mom is a white witch and whose dad is the worst black witch. There is a (kind of) prophecy that says that this boy -Nathan- will kill his father. The Council(which consists of just white witches) tests him every year to see if he will "be" a white witch or a black witch so that they can hopefully get him to kill him father. But he doesn't want to.
This book was amazing. It was a truly unique plot unlike others that I have seen before. She had a completely new take on the typical witch and she shows us all kinds of people. Her words give many feels to her readers. I love her writing style.
I would 100% recommend this book for everyone because its not that hard to read(if you're not very emotional because this book hits you right in the feels) and it has a great plot. And as a bonus, the trilogy's covers are gorgeous(which coincidentally is the exact reason why I originally bought this book because I, most of the time, choose books by their covers/titles).
If you have any recommendations for books that I should read next please, feel free to comment below!
