Nemesis tells the story of two teens, Min and Noah. During the past few years, Min has been killed several times. And she has stayed living. Noah too, suffers in a similar way, as he receives horrific nightmares of a murderous man in a black suit who kills him. Always on even number years, both teens have experienced horrific experiences, yet keep it to themselves. But the times are changing. A giant asteroid may or may not soon destroy their planet. Huge earthquakes have been hitting cities, triggering volcanos and tsunamis. So, what do all these things have in common? Soon, both teens will have to band together to discover the secrets behind their horrific murders, and find out what the mysterious government group – Project Nemesis – has to do with all this. This book started out pretty good, the characters in the book very were interesting and were well defined. One of the main characters, Noah, is different from your usually rich-kid character, and is very shy. Min, while living in a small trailer, still enjoys her life and doesn’t care about what others think. I liked that when they first met, they were reluctant and not so trusting of each other, which is different from those books when they fall into each other’s arms so quickly.
The plot was also very intriguing, and made you wonder what was going on. It was full of mystery, and made you feel unsure about what would happen next. I really liked how the further you went into the book, the more complex the mystery became, making you want to read until 2am to figure it out. The reason why I am giving this book a 3/5 stars rating is simple, the ending. I started this book out hoping for a cool sci-fi mystery with a surprising ending. I was obsessed with this book and read it within a few hours. But then it began. The last twenty pages of the book, where all is revealed and you gasp in shock. I was so excited to finally figure out the mystery of Project Nemesis. But then I read it. And I immediately thought “Really?”. It’s not that the ending was bad; it’s just that it feels like it has been done before, and is a huge let down to the rest of the book. And this one character does something that I feel has completely been done before, and just is a bit sad, honestly. But despite the ending, I would still give it an alright rating because it was a pretty entertaining book while it lasted, and still made me think and wonder about things that I haven’t before. I would recommend this book to any sci-fi or mystery lovers, looking for their newest thriller. And who knows, maybe you’ll like the ending a lot more than I did. Let me know what you think in to comments! And if you got to read this book, what do you think of the ending?
Until next time,
