Now, here is my review of The Cadence of Gypsies:
When Carolina Lovel learned that she was adopted on her 18th birthday, she doesn’t think that she would find a mysterious letter written in the same way as the Voynich Manuscript in a box from her birth mother. But after years of research she has not been able to find out much more… until now. Now as the teacher of three females of intellectual genius (FIGS), she might finally have a shot at figuring it out. But when their search leads them into a world of gypsies and magic, things might become more dangerous than they ever thought it would.
I loved the narrative style in this book. With the beginning of each chapter, the author starts with a quick bit of the gypsy world before going in with bits of the other characters, allowing the reader to watch each piece of the story fall together. I really enjoy books like this so I was very happy when the author did this, and did it well.
Another aspect of this book that I really enjoyed was the research the author clearly did for it. She made sure to really dig into different languages mentioned throughout the book, along with what makes the Voynich Manuscript so cool. Not only that, but she did research into gypsies, something I found myself very interested in throughout the book. It was her research that made me get so into the plot because it really showed how invested the author was in her story.
If you love books that give you insight on new cultures, you will love this book. I truly felt like I was traveling the world with each page, and not only that but I felt like I was learning something new too.
